Girls U11 Football Competition 12.11.24

St Peters travelled to the Eco power stadium today, taking part in the u11s girls football tournament. The girls represented the school very well, their behaviour was excellent by everyone.

The girls came up against Ivanhoe school in their first game, battled well and were mainly in possession of the ball all game. Ivanhoe were very lucky to score a scrappy goal with their only chance. The girls tried very hard to defend the goal but unfortunately the goal rolled in.  1st loss at 1 nil.

Next up was Atlas 1. Again, he girls battled well. The defence was excellent and midfield retreated back to help the defence keeping the game at nil - nil.

3rd game was against Scawsby Juniors, a very strong team, dominating the league table. The girls were strong again, defending their goal. Great clearances from Pheobe, sending the ball down the pitch and Tilly making many good saves. Unfortunately, Scawsby broke away and managed to score with the ball just rebounding the wrong way off the keeper's hand. The girls held their heads high and battled on again with Maisie making some excellent strong challengers against a very strong player. Again Scawsby managed to break free and scored an excellent strike from outside the box, nothing Tilly could do. 2-nil loss.

Last league game was against Bentley New Village. The girls went on positive and strong. Again, another tough game with the girls defending and battling for the ball. St Peters were again mainly in possession of the ball, pulling off a few shots at goal but saved by their keeper or rolling just passed goal. However, a chance for Bentley was taken from a goal kick and scored just rolling in, narrowly missed by the keeper, another 1 nil loss, Sending St Peter's out of the group stages.

A friendly was arranged 8 v 8 against Kirk sandal. A very competitive game. The girls battled all the way through, keeping the score to nil, nil.

Scawsby won in the final competition 2 nil, final again Kirk Sandall who St peters played a friendly against.

I would say 3 players stood out today: Tilly in goal, Maisie and Pheobe playing outside. All the girls did the school proud and played excellently, to say none play for teams.

Well done Lola, Maisie, Phoebe, Tilly, Abbie, Shaza, Leah and Alisa.

Playground Leaders-Autumn 1

Our Year 6 pupils have been trained and are now delivering activities in the Reception and KS1 yard. Activities include throwing and catching, team games and balance bike tracks. They are there every lunchtime in the hope that they can encourage pupils to develop their co-ordination, fine and gross motor skills as well as develop an enthusiasm for them to be active and enjoy different aspects of PE.

Girls Football Training Autumn 1

We have begun a girls' football session during Thursday lunchtime. It is hoped that more girls will become more involved and have a go if they are not already involved.

EFL Utilita Kids Cup 22.10.24

The first competition of the year finished with the Y5/6 football team eliminated at the quarter-final stage in a sudden death penalty shoot-out.

We progressed through the group stages, winning 4 of our 5 group games, losing the other by a single goal to the eventual winners, Mount Carmel. We managed to score 6 goals and conceded just 1. In the quarter-final, we found ourselves a goal down but the team spirit that was evident throughout the competition brought us an equaliser. The tie went to sudden death. Both sides failed to capitalise on the other teams' misses until the 9th penalty from each team. We unfortunately missed it and Auckley scored.

The team played some great football and were very supportive towards each other during the day. Thank you to parents that were able to support and encourage the team during the day.

McCauley Football Cup Girls 2024

CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

A fantastic show of strength, skill and teamwork made the difference as the girls retained the trophy that they won last year in style once again, winning all 7 league games, the semi-final against Holy Family and then the final against St Mary's 3-0. They scored an incredible 21 goals and conceeded 0. An amazing achievement.

Squad: Shantay, Aoife, Nell, Sofia, Isabella, Maisie and Abby.

McCauley Football Cup Boys 2024

After playing 7 group games, winning 5, drawing 1 and losing 1, St. Peter's boys finished second in the group and played Mount Carmel in the semi-final. In a close encounter, both sides had opportunities to win. Unfortunately for us though, a drop in concentration meant that we conceded a goal in the closing minutes to end our progression. However, the boys can be pleased with their efforts and were a credit to the school.

Squad: Harry, Trei, Mason, Abdul, Rory, Max, Henry, T and Asophe.

Sports Week is next week, beginning Monday 17th June.

Y6 Intra Tennis Competition 12.6.24

Following our Tennis Unit of work we finished with a competition. Pupils played 6 other pupils, with a winner being crowned. This was Abdul who won all of his six games. Well done Abdul.

Y6 Intra Cricket Competition 11.6.24

Well done to members of Team 2 who won each of their 3 games in our class mini tournament. There was some great fielding, catching and plenty of boundaries scored. What a difference in the level of skill on show from when we started our cricket unit.

Trust Football Competition 7.6.24

We travelled to St Bernard's today to play in the Trust Football Competition. Our squad was made up of Y5/6 pupils. In our league, we won 2, lost 2 and drew 1, meaning that we went into the 5th and 6th play-off. This game ended 0-0, so out of the 12 teams competing, we were a creditable equal 5th. I would like to commend the team on some excellent play and goals. The team gelled together really well and were a credit to the school.

Squad: Adam, Exekiel, Isaac, Flynn, T, Asophe, Max, Abdul, Rory and Henry.

Y5 Cricket 6.7.24

We took a squad of girls and boys to the cricket tournament today. The girls didn't manage a win but showed lots of resilience to improve in each game. The boys did a little better, just being pipped into second place but unable to reach the final. Both sets of players improved as the completion progressed, which was great to see.

Girls through to the South Yorkshire Finals - Boys just miss out.

On Thursday 9th May, Y4 pupils, two teams, from St Peter's Catholic Primary School represented the school in the Doncaster Schools Cricket Tournament. Both teams displayed incredible skills and after four tough matches the girls team topped their group and will proceed through to the South Yorkshire Finals Tournament. Unfortunately, our Mixed/Boys team lost out to the Semi-Finals by one point. All the pupils had a wonderful experience.

Y3/4 Doncaster Hockey-4th Place 26/3/24

Having won 2 and drawing 1 game, our team progressed into the semi-finals as runners-up. They were up against the winners of the other league, Owsten A. This proved a difficult challenge in which they were beaten 3-0. Following that, a tight play-off against Town Fields left us in fourth place overall. This was a great achievement considering that, as a team, they were playing together for the first time. They showed resilience throughout the competition. Well done to each member of the squad.

Y5/6 Doncaster Hockey Champions 25/3/24

After drawing and losing the first two group games, it seemed an uphill task to qualify for the semi-finals. However, we had not played that badly and were unlucky at times and the next two games produced wins.

This meant a semi-final against the winners of the other group. We raced into a 2-0 lead and dominated for a 2-1 win. Onto the final against Warmsworth, who had beaten us in the group. This time the score line would be reversed, and we deservedly came out on top, winning 1-0.

The squad was excellent, showing great stick control, passing and movement into space.

Squad: Alice, Abdul, Aoifa, Sofia, Nell, Jonah, Ethan, Trei, Ezikiel and Harry.

Hockey sessions delivered by 'Complete Coaching Solutions'

Year 3 and Year 6 have enjoyed the delivery of a number of hockey sessions from James at 'Complete Coaching Solutions' over the past half-term. Pupils and staff have learnt lots of new skills and tactics which a selected number of pupils will be able to try out in a competition in the near future.

Many thanks James for your time and efforts.

Josh, from Doncaster Rugby League has been at school this half-term to complete our block of activities started with Martin with our Year 4 and Year 5 classes. I know that both pupils and staff have enjoyed the sessions and have discovered new skills and how to apply them in a competitive way.
